The Use of Black Seed & Its Chemical Composition
Thymoquinone is a compound derived from the black seeds of a Middle Eastern flower called Nigella sativa. Also known as Nigella sativa, black cumin, sedan, or roman coriander, this plant has been used for over 2,000 years as a medicinal herb and spice to fight disease and boost immunity. At the beginning of the 21st century, science has accumulated enough evidence that Nigella has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer effects.
The Chemical Composition of the Black Seed
Nigella seed oil extract contains thymoquinone and several chemical compounds that are inhibitors of angiogenesis involved in the suspension and even reversal of cancerous tissue. In simple terms, these substances can not only slow down or stop the growth of a cancerous tumor, but also kill cancer cells. In addition to thymoquinone, nigella oil also contains dithymoquinone, thymohydroquinone, omega fatty acids and thymol, all of which have regenerative qualities that are used in the complex treatment of malignant tumors, as well as to fight infection and relieve arthritis pain.
Nigella seed oil is an effective and well-established remedy in Indian Ayurvedic practices, Chinese traditional medicine and Oriental medicine.

This is a southern plant and grows mainly in the steppes, respectively, and research was carried out mainly by southern countries.
Several studies in southeastern countries have confirmed the beneficial properties of thymoquinone, especially in relation to its ability to prevent the appearance of cancer cells in the pancreas, prostate, and colon. These cancers tend to involve inflammation, which thymoquinone is very effective at reducing. A study conducted at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, showed that this compound can not only kill pancreatic cancer cells but also prevent their development. Thymoquinone is even more effective than other proven plant phytochemicals called trichostatins.
Thymoquinone is superior to trichostatin in efficacy due to its ability to alter the genetic propensity of some people to develop certain types of cancer. This transcription factor, called NF-kappaB, is normally present in the pancreas when there are signs of cancer. Studies also show Nigella sativa’s ability to alleviate the negative effects of asthma and allergic reactions, provide antioxidant support, and lower blood cholesterol levels with long-term use (3 weeks).
