It is a shrub of the Rosaceae family up to 1.5 m high. The rhizome is perennial. The two-year-old stems are covered with numerous thorns. The leaves are threefold, with spikes, located on petioles.

Among them, there are sawn leaves overgrown with hairs. The flowers are collected on brushes. Blooms in June – July. The fruit is a complex juicy drupe, that matures in July – August. Medicinal raw materials are young leaves and mature fruits.

They collect them all summer. Dried in the shade, under a canopy, in the attic, or in the oven at a temperature of 50 ° C. Dry leaves should retain their natural color. The leaves contain tannins, organic acids, flavonoids and inositol.

The fruits contain glucose, fructose, sucrose, ascorbic acid, carotene, vitamin E, tannins and aromatic substances, organic acids, potassium salts, copper and manganese.

Blackberry preparations have anti-inflammatory, wound healing, expectorant, anti-putrefaction, anti-cough, bactericidal, diaphoretic, diuretic and soothing properties.

For internal effects, it is taken for the treatment of neuroses in women who are in the menopausal period, with diarrhea, gastritis, and gastric and intestinal bleeding. As an additional remedy treats dysentery and food poisoning.

Sometimes with peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, diseases of the upper respiratory tract, externally for rinsing the mouth and throat with bleeding gums, sore throats, inflammation of the pharynx, for douching with copious menstruation, for lotions with chronic ulcers, fresh and purulent wounds, eczema and lichen.
