Black Chokeberry, Aronia Melanocarpa
Comes from North America. Ornamental plants for decorating streets, gardens and parks.
This is a shrub from the Rosaceae family up to 2 m high, with elliptical, ovoid or oblong-lanceolate leaves up to 8 cm long, bright green in summer, and red in autumn colors.
The flowers are white or pinkish, five-membered, with a diameter of more than 1 cm, collected in 10-35 pieces in corymbose inflorescences. fruits are juicy, spherical, up to 1.5 cm in diameter, black-purple, with bluish-red. Blossoms in May – June, and fruits ripen in September. Fruits serve as medicinal raw materials.
They are collected as maturation, dried in air and dried in a dryer at temperatures of 40-50 °C.
Aronia fruits contain sugars, organic acids, iodine, pectin and tannins, salts of molybdenum, boron, manganese, copper, vitamins C, B1, B2, E, PP and carotene.
Vitamins good preserved in fruits and chokeberry juice, which stimulate appetite, and increase the acidity and digestion capacity of gastric juices.
Juice and fruits of chokeberry are useful for people suffering from gastritis with low acidity. In addition, it was found that fresh, they cause a decrease in blood pressure when hypertension. For people with normal blood pressure this action is usually not observed.
